Common Questions

Q: My Logitech webcam software says I can create video emails included with the purchase of the webcam, so why would I need MyVideoTalk?

A: We are talking about two completely different technologies.

1. When you create a video with the Logitech software, it is a very large file that you must attach to your email.
   -- Most people will not open a file attachment due to the fact that it may contain a virus.
   -- If you create a 3-4 minute video, the file attachment will be too large for most ISPs to upload. This means that you will most likely exceed the ISPs’ limits and that the email will not be sent.
   -- If the large attachment is sent, there is good chance that it will be too large for the recipient to receive.
   
   
2. With MyVideoTalk, your video email is sent as a webpage link. This means no large attachments, no downloads and no threat of viruses.
   
   
3. MyVideoTalk provides you the option to customize your video screen that Logitech does not. You can customize the video screen to brand it to your company or any other company, for that matter
   
   
4. You can import & upload outside video into the MyVideoTalk system. Logitech does not offer this option.

Q: I have heard that my ISP offers video email for free. Why would I want to pay for MVT instead?

A: MyVideoTalk is a professional product application whereas the “free” product is more of “trial” type of application – there are many limitations on the “free” service:

1. The length of the video is typically 30-45 seconds, compared to up to 10 minutes available with MyVideoTalk.
2. The type of use may be limited to personal use ONLY – you cannot use it for any business or commercial use
3. You cannot customize & brand the video screens whatsoever (no logo, banner, image, etc.).
4. No business applications available period!
5. Cannot upload outside videos (i.e.: from your camcorder or previously taken video, etc.).
6. No Streaming Video Library functionality available.
7. No notification if video has been viewed.
8. You cannot save the videos – it is only saved for a temporary time with no ability for longterm “parking” of the video.
9. You cannot post the videos to websites.
10. You must be a subscriber of the ISP to use the service
11. You are sending an advertisement for the ISP every time you send a video.
12. Ask the questions, “Are my rates going up? Is this REALLY free?”

Q: I can do video for free with my AOL Instant Messenger or Yahoo! Instant Messenger. Why would I want to pay for MVT service?

A: These are two very different products with different applications.

1. The quality of the live video through these programs is poor.
   -- The picture is usually jerky.
   -- The picture is often fuzzy as well.
   -- Many times the audio & video are out of synch.
   
   2. You and the recipient both have to be online at the same time.
   -- With MyVideoTalk, you can record at any time of the day or night & send the video.
   -- The recipient can then watch it at a time that is convenient for them. This is much better than playing the “time zone game.”
   -- The businessman in New York can create a video email from his desk at 5:00 pm and send it to his London office where it is 10:00 pm so it is waiting for them to view in the morning.
   -- The soldier stationed in Iraq while his family is still in Hawaii at the base – both parties being online at the same time can be very difficult with a 13-hour time difference! Video email eliminates this hardship.
