Question: How can I tell the version number of my installed EnoLogic NetFilter?
Answer: You can view this information if you start EnoLogic NetUpdate. On the first screen in this application you can find information about all the EnoLogic products/components you have installed, their respective version numbers and when they have last been updated.

Question: I cannot log on to the administration program?
Answer: If you have not modified your administrator login, you can simply use the default login:

Username = admin
Password = admin

If modifications have been applied to the login you need to supply the values you have selected. Check if caps-lock is active when you enter the login - this is known as a common logi error source.

If you have lost your modified login information, you have no alternative but to reinstall the product. The configuration files are encrypted using your password, and can hence not be modified without your password.

After reinstallation you will be able to use the standard login once again.

Question: What about protection against virusses, hackers and the likes?
Answer: EnoLogic NetFilter is a filter technology developed to protect your computre against "objectionable material".

To protect your machine against virusses, hackers and the likes you still need to have an AntiVirus and/or Firewall product installed.

With a combination of an Antivirus product and EnoLogic NetFilter your computer will be protected against virusses and objectionable material.

EnoLogic NetFilter is fully compatible with such extra protection products.

Question: How does EnoLogic NetFilter handle peer-to-peer download applications?
Answer: EnoLogic NetFilter analyzes browser traffic, and/or traffic that is specifically routed through the HTTP proxy server it provides.

If you wish to block peer-to-peer traffic we recommend to configure your firewall for this purpose.

Question: Can the filter be easily de- and reactivated?
Answer: Yes, but it requires the user to enter a special code. This code has been chosen by the person(s) who installed and administrates the filter.

Question: Couldn't somebody just uninstall or deactivate the filter?
Answer: No, this is not possible. To uninstall the filter the installation serial is required.

Likewise, a special code chosen by the administrator is required if the filter should be deactivated for a short period.

Question: Can a number of PC's share a filtered Internet connection if I only have one Internet connection, eg. one ADSL modem or dialup modem?
Answer: Yes, this is possible if you have purchased an EnoLogic NetFilter Home family license.

The family license edition of EnoLogic NetFilter Home can be setup up as single installations on up to 5 PC's in the home.

All that is required is that your PC's can contact each other through a LAN (local area network). Once this is accomplished, you simply install the filter on each PC.

Note that you may only install/share the family license on up to 5 PC's.

Question: I have version 1.0.2.0 of EnoLogic NetFilter installed. Occasionally I experience that some applications "lock up". Is there a solution for this situation?
Answer: A problem has been located in EnoLogic NetFilter v1.0.2.0 which in rare cases cause some applications to "lock up". This was due to a series of windows API function calls that unfortunately was not carried out according to the correct standard.

The problems can be either of:

• Some programs may "lock up"
• Very few programs could terminate unexpectedly

This issue has been solved in EnoLogic NetFilter v1.0.2.1. You can acquire this update by running EnoLogic NetUpdate.

Question: What about Java applets?
Answer: EnoLogic NetFilter Home scans all HTTP traffic. If the applet requests data through this protocol, the data will be analyzed.

The filter is also capable of protecting against chat applets, if the chat blocking or protection mechanisms has been activated by the filter administrator.

Question: Is it possible to install the filter before I purchase an Internet connection?
Answer: As such this is possible. It would however not serve any purpose. EnoLogic NetFilter soly analyzes Internet trafic, and does therefore require an Internet connection to be present.

It is naturally possible however, to install the filter on your machine, if eg. you wish to preconfigure your PC with the filter before you recieve your new ADSL og modem line.
