    Question Answer
    I have typed my license code and want to continue but a message appears saying there is no contact to the registration server. Check internet connection.
    I do not have broadband, only a modem connection. Do I need a firewall? Yes, you do need a firewall; chances of being attacked are the same no matter what speed or connection type you have.
    Can I have more than one firewall installed on the same computer? Yes, most will work. But trouble shooting will be difficult, since it may not be clear which firewall is causing problems.
    Can I use Windows XP built in firewall active when I also have BitGuard installed? Yes they work fine together, but you cannot see which firewall that is blocking traffic.
    How do I deactivate Windows XP firewall?
    • Open the Control Panel in Windows
    • Select Network Connections
    • On the connection with a padlock, right mouse click and select Properties
    • On the Advanced tab select Internet Connection Firewall
    How do I find out if a program is allowed to get Internet access? Do I say yes to it all when BitGuard pops up with a question? If the program documentation is not clear about Internet access, then you could also use a search engine to look the program up and see if the results show if the program is ok.
    I use to be able to play certain internet games but now they do not work anymore. How do I get them working again? Check if game has been configured in the firewall under Program Configuration. Check if the game requires certain ports must be opened.
    Under "View - Statistics" are a log where I can see if BitGuard has blocked something. What can I use it for and how do I change the log? The statistics view shows what the firewall is currently doing. If you are having a problem with a program you can clearly see what is being blocked and thus be able to correct it.
    How do I uninstall BitGuard? Open Control Panel in Windows and select Add/remove programs.
    Under "View - Statistics" there is something called "Matrix". What can I use this function for? This function gives you an overview of who is communicating with your computer.
    I have reformatted my hard disk. How do I get BitGuard on my computer again? Do I need a new license for BitGuard? No, you can reinstall with same license. But this code is only valid for one installation at a time.
    I have more than one computer. Can I use the came license on more than one computer? No, the BitGuard license is per computer unless you bought a multi-computer license.
    What are the system requirements for BitGuard? Check the readme_en.txt on the CD or refer to the manual.
    Are there daily updates to BitGuard? No, only when new features are released or any bugs are fixed.
    I bought BitGuard on a CD. I have tried to update but the installation gets stuck. Download latest update for your version from The Bitguard home page and try to install again.
    My FTP-program does not work after I installed BitGuard. Check if you can set the ftp to passive mode, if you are still having problems you may consider setting the ftp program to Unrestricted in Program Configuration.
    I bought BitGuard on a CD but I can't register my license. Download latest update for your version from BitGuard's homepage.
    BitGuard says my license has expired but I know it is still valid. What should I do? Contact BitGuard Support.
    I had to install BitGuard more than once, now the installation program says I can't register anymore. Contact BitGuard Support.
